My name is Comet, and I am just a wee pug of six weeks. My human mama passed and my brother, sister and I came to Homeward Bound. I am only two and a half pounds and was already injured. When I went to the Dogtor, they thought I had sprained my leg because it was swollen. I had to go back, cuz I was in lots of pain and that's when it was discovered that I had a very bad puncture wound. I don't remember what happened, but the wound went all the way to my bone. Yuck! I feel better after going to my vet again and getting more meds. I am here today to launch our annual fundriaser, not just to raise $$ for my care but for the care of several others and to pay off our vet bills so we can start fresh with the new year. We will be featuring other pugs that need help as well. The fundraiser will last Until January 1, 2026. Please help us start the New Year debt free with some left over if possible.
Eight years ago, we launched our first-holiday donation drive for pugs to get necessary vetting and pay all vet bills. It was so successful that we decided to do it every year. We have set a higher goal this year to pay the expenses of pugs that need some high dollar vetting and to pay all bills owed before the end of the year. This has been a tough year for all with more pugs coming in as strays, than ever before. Pugs continue to need us during the holiday season more than at other times of the year. We have two needing heartworm treatment, several that we have to buy prescription food for, others that need their spay/neuter and all their other vet work. Vet costs continue to increase and rescue discounts have been reduced at some of our vets. Please consider a donation at this time of giving. You have no idea what it means to the rescue and our wonderful pugs. Once again, we could not have our largest fundraiser of the year. I love the holidays, but it is always a hard time for rescues lacking enough funds to get everything needed. Please donate if you can and share, share, share. Every few days, another pug will be highlighted and tell their story. Last year we met our goal of $11000 and exceeded it by $900. We are hoping that once again we can do the same and have raised the bar to $13000 and hope we can meet this year's goal. 165 donors helped us reach our goal last year, with many donating more than once. Let's get to 175 donors this year! With your love and support, let's make this our most successful holiday fundraiser ever.
