Chance to Represent IRE at Grand Fondo World Championship

Hi, my name is Gabrielle Fox I'm fundraising as I recently qualified for the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World Championship 28th Aug- 1st Sept Aalborg Denmark.

Originally GAA Camogie was my sporting passion where I've represented my county Armagh at Ulster and All- Ireland Level, but following a sporting injury I turned to cycling and found a new sport I really enjoyed. I've now been racing 1.5years in Ireland. With on average 12hrs per week between training and racing with my club in Limerick- Greenmount Cycling Academy, I've achieved some great success within the current 2024 season!

I achieved my first Solo Win in a Woman's Race, completed The Gorey 3 Day, Winner of the Intermediate Woman's League and achieved 12th in the National Irish Championship Road Race, to name a few of my successes. My aim for the season was to Race the Ras na mBan. This event is a 6 stage race across 5 days, 4th- 8th Sept. The top unexpected success of the season has been the Gran Fondo World Series, where I placed 2nd in age category, 12th overall in the race.

The Union Cyclists International (UCI) Gran Fondo World Series is a series of UCI-sanctioned races held all over the world. There are 28 worldwide races where participants aim for qualification for the official UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in different age groups.

The World Series qualify event came to Sligo for the first time ever on 30th June 2024, where I achieved 2nd in my age category. I now have the opportunity to wear the Irish National Jersey and race at a World Championship.
