20 Students. $20,000 Raised. 2 Years Later—The Need in Noto Remains.
On New Year’s Day 2024, the Noto Peninsula was devastated. While the headlines have faded, the financial burden on students from the region has not. The Seattle Ishikawa Association is launching our 2026 Scholarship Round to ensure no student is forced to drop out due to the disaster.
Why "The Seattle Ishikawa Association” is Leading This: As a community of Ishikawa natives and supporters living in Seattle, we cannot watch from the sidelines. We are the bridge between the Pacific Northwest and the recovery of our hometowns. Our mission is simple: Keep the light of hope alive for the next generation of Ishikawa leaders.
The Impact So Far
- Total Donated: $20,000 USD (as of January 2026).
- Recipients: 20 high school and college students in partnership with the Iwaki Foreign Student Scholarship Foundation.
- Outcome: Direct relief for tuition and living expenses, allowing students to stay in school despite family losses.
Our 2026 Goal: The Third Round
The reconstruction of Noto is slow. Hundreds of homes remain uninhabitable, and local businesses are still struggling. This year, we aim to raise $10,000 to provide scholarships for the 2026 academic year.
Your donation goes directly toward:
• Tuition Assistance: Preventing dropouts for affected families.
• Living Stipends: Helping students focus on exams instead of financial survival.
• Long-term Stability: Investing in the youth who will eventually rebuild the Noto region.
How You Can Help Today:
- Donate: Every dollar counts toward a student's future.
- Share: Post this link to your LinkedIn or Facebook.
- Connect: If your company offers Corporate Gift Matching, please contact us to double your impact.
Thank you for standing with Noto.
