2024 Miss Phi Beta Sigma Scholarship Pageant
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Brianna Phillips, and I am a junior at the University of Central Florida majoring in political science on a pre-law track. I am happy to announce that I am contestant number four in the Immortal Iota Rho Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.’s Miss Phi Beta Sigma Pageant! If I am crowned Miss Phi Beta Sigma, I will use my platform to educate black students on the importance of understanding their local laws and how those laws affect them. A recent example would be the passing of House Bill 999 (HB999) in the Florida legislature. This bill bans a variety of things, including any state-funded diversity and inclusion programs that make black students feel welcomed, safe, and represented. We were able to vote on whether this bill would be passed, but not enough people knew about it or the consequences it would have. To prevent this from occurring again, I want to educate black youth on the importance of understanding potential laws, what they mean, how they will affect them, and most importantly: how they can influence them. My donation goal is $900. Any and all donations are highly valued and appreciated!
