2024 Kingston Landing Choptank River Bacteria Testing Fund
Donation protected
Hello, I'm John. I'm volunteering to collect weekly water samples from Kingston Landing for bacteria monitoring on the Choptank River through https://www.shorerivers.org/swim supported by the Choptank River Keepers .
This is a bacteria monitoring program to test water at/near local swimming areas so we can share with the public information on the bacteria levels at different locations along the river.
The program runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and results are shared on Fridays on Shorerivers , Choptank Riverkeepers, social media, local papers and radio stations, and on Swim Guide .
Current nearest sampling stations are Choptank Marina Beach and Two John's Landing. Adding Kingston Landing on this map here .
In order to establish a new monitoring site the following criteria must be met:
- The site must be publicly accessible - Kingston Landing, Easton Maryland
- A volunteer SwimTester capable of collecting weekly samples on Thursday morning and delivering them to our lab in Easton. That's me John Moran!
- A Site Sponsor(s) to help cover the monitoring equipment costs ($640/season). This is where you come in!
I'm looking for some help to fund the tests which is $650 per site per year. Many of the other sites get a sponsor, but I'm thinking community funding might be a faster way since testing starts this Thursday!
