2024 Fred's Team Fundraising
Donation protected
Hi everyone, thanks for visiting my fundraising page! I've set up this GoFundMe to help raise money to meet my Fred's Team fundraising goal for this year, which is $5,500. My employer was generous enough to do a donation match that will help take me over my goal, so I have made my employee end of the match amount for $2,500. The goal for this page is to help fund the $2,500 I've already donated, so any amount is greatly appreciated!
Additionally, I wanted to share a bit about myself and why I'm running. I'm very excited for my second year fundraising and running for Fred's Team, having previously run in 2021.
This year during my training and on race day, I'll be thinking of a few individuals (and their families) close to us who have recently dealt with a diagnosis or sadly lost their battle with cancer.
For me, and I think for many people, cancer has always been present in our lives to some extent. We all know someone affected by it, and it can be a topic not everyone wants to talk about at times. Some of us are more directly affected than others, but it's something that has been prevalent in many of our lives. Over the years and even recently, our family has lost relatives, grandparents, and friends to varying types of cancers. On the flip side, we have people in our lives who have overcome their diagnoses or continue to fight, in large part due to the cancer research that's been done over decades and continues through today. MSK has been one of the leaders in this research and in their commitment to continued advancements in treatment and care. Their work has helped current and former patients, caregivers, and families deal with and cure all types of cancer diagnoses.
I can personally attest to what MSK has done for those affected by cancer, as a former patient there myself. After being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, I was treated at MSK and made a full recovery with the help of some incredible nurses, doctors, and hospital staff. I wouldn't be here and be the person I am today without them, so I'm grateful having the opportunity to support the research that goes into saving lives every day. Shoutout to my parents, brother, family, and friends for all the support they gave me during my diagnosis.
We all know cancer sucks. It's the worst. But we can do our part to help further the treatments that are available, and hopefully create new and better treatment options in the future. If you've made it this far, thanks for reading!
