The Hill Country United 2005 Girls' team won the South Texas State Cup this past weekend in College Station, beating two Houston teams with 1-0 and 3-0 victories. This was the last weekend of a three-week tournament which began with 10 of the best teams in the state. Their win advances them to the 2023 Southern Regional National Championship in Baton Rouge, LA at the end of June. As part of the US Youth National Championship, this cup series “provides the nation’s top collegiate coaches with the premier stage to identify and scout the most coveted players in the country” (https://www.usyouthsoccer.org/national-championship-series/). Our Texas Hill Country team is composed of players ages 15-18 from Kerrville, Fredericksburg, and Ingram. They compete against teams from Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas that often have many pure age group teams allowing them to pick the very best players to compete at this level. Not having the option to handpick players, this team is one of a kind in their dedication, teamwork, and love of the game. There are no superstars carrying them to the top, rather, their consistency and ability to work together as a cohesive unit has allowed them to win year after year. The team’s conference record over the past four seasons is 29/2/2 (29 Wins, 2 losses, 2 draws). Their success has culminated in the advancement to the Frontier Conference, U.S. Youth Soccer National League, for 2023/24 season; the highest level of play that any team from our area has competed. These players have made great strides as a team and as individuals. Their commitment to soccer has improved their teamwork, communication, decision-making, accountability, and perseverance which will benefit them as individuals and as future leaders in our communities. We hope that you will root for our team and contribute to the expenses for the week-long tournament in Baton Rouge!

The fundraising Goal is based on $715 per player/staff member to cover all hotel, travel, and food for 9 days (7 tournament days and 2 travel days).
