2023 Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant

Hello!

I am Megan Giselle Banks from the sprightly college town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I was born on March 28, 2006, to my wonderful parents Angela and Heath Banks. My parents are hard workers that have always instilled in me that faith, persistence, and determination are attributes that successful people have shared throughout history. I plan to continue to embrace that belief so that I too will be a credit to my family, community, and race.

I am currently in my junior year at Carrboro High School where I maintain a 4.3 GPA. At Carrboro High School, I serve as an elected Junior Senator for the Student Government Association. I am also an active member of The Black and Brown Student Coalition, Scholars of Color, and Anatomy and Physiology Club. I take part in several extra-curricular activities. I am a proud member of the school’s chamber choir. I was also a member of the varsity volleyball and track and field team. Outside of school, I continue to play competitive travel volleyball, spend breaks on vacation adventures, design jewelry, and enjoy making great memories with friends.

On May 20th, I will be a participant in the 2023 Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant. The Jabberwock is a Scholarship Pageant that gives the Chapel Hill Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated the opportunity to enrich and cultivate the lives of young ladies of the Chapel Hill community with unforgettable rites of passage journey into young adulthood and prepare them for future endeavors to success. The Chapel Hill Alumnae Chapter is aware that their local high schools have several girls with extraordinary promise and natural abilities that are instrumental in their success in both their school and social community. Through the Jabberwock Pageant, the sorority celebrates participants before they graduate. On the evening of the pageant, participants are also awarded the scholarship funds raised by the sorority along with the funds raised by the participants themselves.
