Hello Freedom Starters and welcome to our NINTH YEAR together!
As the festive season approaches, let's come together to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. We have officially launched the 2023 Holiday Cheer Drive for our local domestic violence coalition and shelter, and we need your help to bring joy and comfort to survivors and their families during this holiday season. I love our holiday drive for so many reasons but mostly because this is our community taking care of people right here in our community.
Why a Christmas Drive for a Domestic Violence Shelter?
The holiday season can be an especially challenging time for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Many have had to leave their homes and belongings behind, seeking refuge in shelters to escape dangerous situations. This Christmas, let's show them that they are not alone and that the community cares.
How Your Support Will Make a Difference:
Gifts for All Ages: Your generous contributions will help provide age-appropriate gifts for children, teens, and adults staying at the shelter. Whether it's toys, books, or self-care items, your donation will bring smiles and comfort to those who have faced hardship.
Warm Clothing and Bedding: Winter can be harsh, and many survivors may not have warm clothing or bedding. Your support will enable us to provide essentials like coats, blankets, and cozy pajamas to keep them warm and snug during the cold nights.
Support for Rebuilding Lives: Beyond the holidays, your contribution will assist in providing resources for rebuilding their lives. Many adults are asking for simple gifts to restart their lives like clothing and items for a new home. This also gives them emotional support knowing that their community cares and that we want to see them living happy, safe lives.
