2023 has been awful

Hello to all who are taking time out of your busy days to read this. My name is Dani and this fundraiser is for both my husband Dwayne and myself. I wish I could say this is a short story but unfortunately it is not. Asking for this kind of help is a very humbling experience but this story is of one that has been going in part for almost 2 years. In June of 2021 I lost my Father, he sustained many injuries from a fall on the stairs. What caused him to fall was his drinking problem catching up to him. This was a massive blow and to be honest in the grieving process I lost myself as a person for a year. But in that year span my husband and I bought a 130 year old church that we are renovating into our home, we are living in it during the renovations which is challenging. It is especially challenging now due to life circumstances at this time. Right before Christmas on 2022 we had a chimney fire in the church I just spoke about. Thankfully because of the efforts of the local fire departments (it took 2 departments) they were able to get it under control and out while we only sustained smoke damage and damage to the lining in the chimney. This is significant because this is one of the ways we are able to heat our home. In January of 2023 I received the unexpected news that my dearest Uncle Earl who was a huge part of my life had been found deceased in his home by a neighbor. Again I felt shattered and worried for my Mom who was still grieving over the loss of my Dad. 10 days after my Mom and I went to my Uncles funeral I received a call from my sister that my Mom was taken to the hospital and in emergency surgery that they didn’t think she would make it through. She did make it through but over the following 3 weeks my Mom was in massive Liver failure while septic due to a perforated bowel. During this time I personally sustained a massive shoulder injury that caused nerve damage. My Mother passed away on March 5th from being an alcoholic, the same as my Dad. Within a few days after my Moms death the engine in my car blew, it truly felt like I was losing everything at this point. Due to those events I had been forced to slow down at work to be there for my Mom and deal with my shoulder. My husband and I are self employed, we have a kitchen remodeling business that we have put our all in to build. And now you are caught up on the timeline in the shortest way I could explain it to what we are now faced with. Within 10 days of my Moms funeral my husband started to experience stroke like symptoms and took him to the nearest emergency room. They put him through many tests and in that testing they found something else that was disturbing and unrelated. Since March 30th my husband has been battling stroke symptoms and massive migraines that have made it so we had to stop work almost completely. During that time, many doctor and hospital visits later my husband was diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer. He already has one surgery done and more to go. He will also start aggressive Chemo on May 15th. I will be honest and say that I miss my husband dearly, since all of this started he has not been himself and it’s understandable why, with all of this going on I know he is struggling with how much I have had to take on. Between grief, injuries, trying to keep our business going the best I can and becoming a caretaker I have had to set my pride aside and ask for help. I put on here to ask for $20,000 but to be honest to cover the costs of everything which are medical expenses (we do not have health insurance), home care costs, living costs and to get a vehicle that would be easier for my husband to get in and out of we would need closer to $200,000. I have just hit a point where I am so overwhelmed and can no longer do this all on my own. If you have made it to this point in reading I want to say Thank You for taking time out of your day to read this long story.
