North Bay Aquatics coaches character and excellence through competitive swimming. We do take competitive swimming seriously, yet character and excellence still rank before pool results. We are more than merely a swim team…we definitely are a community of highly skilled and motivated people – oh., and we happen to swim
Having said that, NBA swimmers have been at Olympic Trials – arguably the fastest swim meet in the world – in 2008, 12, 16, 21, and will be at 24…Ivan Kurakin has already qualified…3:54 in men’s 400 meter free…several others have their eyes set.
A fuller appreciation for what NBA offers its youth membership can be seen when you look at the list of schools they have been admitted to and for the overwhelming majority of cases have competed at either varsity or club level. And even if they haven’t swum there, they still gained admission into the school because of who they are and what they represent to that school…and make no mistake WHO THEY ARE comes in large part from what they learn about themselves at NBA.
What an impressive list: Georgetown- USC - UCSD - Pomona-Pitzer - Naval Academy
Oberlin College - Princeton- UCSB - Emory - Cal Poly - OCCC - NYU-
Northeastern University - University of Rochester- UC Santa Cruz- San Diego State
University of Nevada Reno - Carnegie Mellon University - University of North Carolina

Lord help me if I have unintentionally missed any school. If you see one let me know
Our Angel fund, which you have graciously supported, allows swimmers who need financial assistance to take advantage of all that NBA has to offer – swim training, weightlifting, earned travel to meets that require flights, hotels, and meals. The faster you swim, the older you get, the more expensive are the necessities…dues range from $225 - $600 per month…11 months a year. Trips can be as expensive as $1500 per swimmer. Tech suits cost from $300-$650 per suit. And of course, they don’t last more than a season (should have invested in those companies!)
I have found in my decades of life that if I am grateful for what I have AND ask for more, I continue to receive more…be that good health, energy, happiness in human relationships. I believe in NBA and the people who make it a renewable resource. For you I am grateful. I am asking for more from you if you can do so. If your life has changed in the last year and you have limits on your donation ability, then we still welcome you to our pool. If you have some extra, our kids – really your kids – can put it to good use. We are excellent stewards of our resources.
On behalf of Ken who founded NBA in 2001, Andrea Salmi who does all the back-office Angel Fund work for many years, Max our Youth Head Coach…I thank you for all you contribute to our North Bay community…carefully disguised as a swim team.
