2022-2023 Biathlon Competitions

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jack Cashman and I am a biathlete. Biathlon is a dual event in which athletes ski and shoot. There is a summer season (with roller skis) and a winter season (done on snow). It is also an Olympic sport during the Winter Olympics.

I do biathlon with a local club (Bluff Country Biathlon) and am also a part of Minnesota Biathlon. During the winter I also ski for the Red Wing High School Nordic Ski Team.

Biathlon consists of a large amount of training, with much of it done on my own. In the summer months, I roller ski, run, bike, do strength training, and practice my shooting. In the winter months, I ski on snow, do strength training, and practice my shooting. At the state level, I compete in Minnesota Biathlon roller ski events in the summer and competitions on snow in the winter months. These events take place in Elk River, Nisswa, Duluth, and Grand Rapids.

For the 2022-2023 Biathlon Season (which started on May 1, 2022), my goal is to continue to improve and put myself in a position to compete at the national level. I am hoping to compete in the following national events in 2022-2023:

Summer Nationals - Jehrico, VT (August 6-8, 2022)

Winter Nationals - Casper, WY (March 23-26, 2023)

World Trials - Anchorage, AK (December 28-31, 2022)

I have funding to compete at the Summer Nationals in Vermont. In order to compete at Anchorage and Casper, I need to raise funds. The cost of registration, travel, and lodging for the two events will be about $3,000.00. These costs would be for me as an individual skier.

It would be very humbling to have your support for these competitions. I plan to keep you updated on my progress via email and a quarterly newsletter. If there is extra funding, I need to upgrade my equipment (boots, poles, and skis).
