2022 World Sprint Triathlon Championships
As some of you may know, in June this year I have the opportunity to go to Canada and represent Great Britain in the Sprint Triathlon World Championships. Unfortunately, there is no financial support from the sport’s governing body so my adventure has to be completely self-funded. Therefore, I’m looking to raise funds to help me on my way to fulfilling my dream of representing Great Britain at the highest possible level!
I started triathlon 4 years ago, as a natural progression to representing the Isle of Wight Athletics club, competing in both cross country and track events. The Isle of Wight Triathlon club have supported me since with targeted training to improve endurance, technique, nutrition and mental strength. My amazing personal coach Simon (Vectis Academy) who began working with me, May 2020, has since added greater depth and understanding to my training further igniting my passion to succeed in the sport I have come to love.
In 2020, I achieved the qualifying time needed for the 2022 Island Games, however, the Games were sadly cancelled due to the Coronavirus-19 pandemic. In 2021 my coach suggested an attempt be made to try and qualify for the 2022 ITU World Sprint Championships. The qualifying event was held at Dorney Lake, the rowing venue for the London 2012 Olympics. A top four finish within age group was needed and despite the high level of competitionfrom across the country, I successfully qualified in1st place.
In tandem with my busy training schedule, I work at The Garlic Farm, Newchurch I.W. to help fund my ambition of representing Team GB in June.
The Garlic Farm are also very kindly helping towards the funds and supporting me with a local quiz night.
I need your help too though if I am to make the start line in Canada this June. Thank you for taking the time to read this statement, any offer of support, whether personal or from the business sector will be massively appreciated!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Millie Williams
