Sacramento Pakistani Community Members (PCM), in collaboration with Safa Marwa Foundation (501c registered non-profit), have launched an emergency campaign to provide survival aid - food, water, shelter, and medicine to the most vulnerable and affected in Pakistan. Safa Marwa (EIN# 47-1843459) is a registered non-profit entity in the U.S. and a partner with PCM on this project. All funds will be distributed to Sara Marwa directly, who will work with PCM to purchase food, water, medicine and shelter to distribute through local social workers/non-profits working on the ground in Pakistan.
The government has declared devastating floods a “national emergency” after widespread flooding and damage have affected over 30 million people, with a death toll exceeding 1,000, including hundreds of children. Roads have been washed away, bridges destroyed, and 580,000 homes have been damaged.
The magnitude of this year’s rains has been unprecedented. Pakistan is going through its 8th cycle of monsoon; usually, the country has only three to four cycles. Two of the worst-hit provinces – Balochistan and Sindh – have received 298mm and 689mm of rain this year, which is about 400 percent more than the 30-year average.
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "If anyone relieves a Muslim believer from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection." (Muslim)
