Welcome to the 2021-2022 season of Mountain View Spartan Wrestling!
We are very excited to be back in the Gym and wrestling again! Despite the challenges of 2021, the Spartan wrestling team has returned with a large squad -- Almost 50 student-athletes will be participating in one of the most mentally AND physically challenging high school activities. This represents almost 50% growth over the squad in 2020, and almost 400% growth since our first squad at MVHS in 2017/2018. Not only has the team been successful in growing rapidly, but the Spartans have placed 1st or 2nd in the league for all 5 years. We believe the growth reflects the fact that the students appreciate the hard work, the tight team bonds, the team's success, and our core values. It is an incredible group of student-athletes, reflecting the full range of students at MVHS. It is one of the few "no-cut" sports where everyone has a chance to compete, and we endeavor to continue that tradition in future years.
We want to continue to build on the team's past success. The growth of the team does drive some costs, and the team needs to prepare the foundation for future years which will include a return to a fully outfitted school gym at MVHS in either 2022 or 2023. All of this will require funds to build out and support.
To keep our program competitive and on par with the other teams we compete against, the needs of our program far exceed what our school budgets are able to provide. Therefore, our fundraising goals include covering this season and establishing the foundation for future years. Specifically, our known requirements are as follows:
* Tournaments 2022: $2,000
* Equipment 2022: $2,000
* General/Misc expenses 2022: $1,000
* League finals at MVHS 2023: $10,000
Our goal of $5,000 to $10,000 includes coverage of this year's expenses. We have asked each wrestler to target raising $250 of tax-deductible donations.
We'd like to thank you in advance for considering a donation to the wrestling program -- it means a great deal to our wrestlers, coaches, and the larger Spartan Family.
Thank you,
