We are excited to share that Ken will be running the 2021 New York Marathon on Sunday, November 7th. The New York Marathon is the largest marathon in the world and this year will include 33,000 runners of all ages and abilities.
When Ken made the decision to start training for the marathon, his heart instantly was called to run for Cerebral palsy (CP), a cause that is near and dear to his heart. Ken’s beloved little sister, Kimberly, has lived with Cerebral palsy for her entire life. The entire Spano family has been hugely supportive of the local programs in their area that have enriched Kimberly’s life for over 30 years. This involvement was the driving force for Ken to support the CP community through his run.
In late August of this year, some of our closest friends (and Leah’s best friend since they were 5 years old) gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Lila Jane Lamp. Lila has brought her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends so much joy and happiness and is incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by so much love.
Little Lila, however, has already faced serious health issues in her first few weeks of life. This beautiful baby has faced seizures, microcephaly, and an infection. After returning home from a week at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, she began having muscle spasms. After many tests and visits with specialists, doctors have confirmed that sweet little Lila Jane is also living with CP.
It was instantly clear to Ken that he wanted to run in honor of Lila and to help raise funds for the Lamp family as they navigate hospital bills and pursue care for Lila’s bright future.
We are honored to be a part of Lila’s life and to have this opportunity to show the Lamp family our love and support. Thank you for your donations towards Lila’s care.
Good luck at the New York Marathon Ken!
