2021 Dobbs Ferry One Fundraiser for John Bucci
Donation protected
John Bucci, known to most as “Mr. Booch” is a lifelong Dobbs Ferry resident who couldn’t be more proud of his roots and being able to raise his 5 kids in this amazing village. He was often seen sitting outside Scappy’s Deli, walking his beloved pugs at the park, or cruising around town. He has been missing all these things the last few months as his health has taken a serious decline.
Mr. Booch has been battling Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for the last 30 years. MS is a disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective covering of the nerves in the body. This means that the brain cannot communicate with the body, resulting in pain, numbness, fatigue, and impaired coordination.
Mr. Booch’s life changed drastically recently when a fall led him to the hospital for a 2+ month stay in the ICU. Although he is home now, this disease has taken away any independence Mr. Booch had been holding on to these past few years. He has a strong support system in his wife, kids, and grandchildren, but he now needs 24 hour care, requiring a home health aide to assist with every day tasks that so many of us take for granted. Mr. Booch can no longer walk, feed himself, or even sit up on his own. Mr. Booch’s condition continues to deteriorate and the whole Bucci family could use our assistance now more than ever.
Dobbs Ferry One is an organization that was founded in 2006. We have hosted over a dozen fundraisers that help families, individuals, and local businesses in and around our community who are going through difficult times. We planned to have the 2020 Annual Pub Crawl Fundraiser on behalf of Mr. Booch. Like many other events that were postponed or cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were and are still unable to host such an event.
We understand how difficult times are for everyone, especially financially but we are asking for people to do whatever they can to help this family that has always shown up and helped other local families in need.
