On October 11th, I will be running my 18th Boston Marathon!! This year I am honored to be running in honor of Liz Tarpey and in support of the Liz Tarpey Memorial Scholarship Fund.

 

Liz passed away tragically at the age of 23 in June 2013 during a hiking accident in Hawaii. Liz was living her dream working in a post-graduate program after graduating from Georgia Tech and Braintree High School.

 

On April 15, 2013, just a few months before Liz’s tragic accident, my fellow L-Street Running Club member, Chris Tarpey, was at the finish of the Boston Marathon at the site of the attack. Chris was injured in the blast. Chris created this fund in honor of his amazing, accomplished daughter.

 

The funds raised benefit Braintree High graduates who exhibit Liz’s values, including high academic achievement, community engagement and a love of learning.
