2021 Unfundraiser Summit Middle School

The Summit PTO is kicking off the third year of the UN-FUNDRAISER, which is a direct ask for funds. This replaces the magazine sales held in years past. There are multiple benefits to this approach including a higher percentage of funds going directly to the school and less work on behalf of our families.

No walking door-to-door to sell stuff to your neighbors.

No time required to upload emails.

No postcards to mail to your family.

How are the dollars used? Due to the pandemic, our PTO funds were somewhat depleted. We plan to use fundraiser dollars for teacher classroom grants, the community day service project, student recognition, and teacher appreciation.

Last year, our fundraiser dollars were used to replace 3D printers that suffered wear and tear associated with printing PPE for hospitals and other organizations in need of face shields. Over 400 pieces of PPE were printed. Click here for KCCI news story .

Here are some examples of what we will use funds for this year:

Teacher Grants: Purchasing the teen choice award winning books for each language arts classroom and the library.

Community Day: Funding a Meals from the Heartland/Johnston Partnership service project for our students.

Student Recognition: Funding celebrations for students who participate in activities like Math Counts Competitions.

Teacher Recognition: Purchasing retirement plaques to place in the entry area that recognize decades of service to our students and the district.

Is there any fun? Absolutely! As we meet these totals, the students (and parents) will be able to celebrate:

$5,000 Silly String the Principals

$10,000 Administration and Teachers will Perform a TikTok Dance for Each Lunch

$15,000 Dunk Tank for Selected Staff

Celebrations will be held during each lunch. The big kick off for the kids will be on September 13th with the end of the campaign on October 8th.
