2020 Tokyo Olympic Games

Donation protected
Hello my name is Curtis Miller and I am currently part of Team GB competing in the sport Fencing. I have been an athlete for fourteen years and have been part of Team GB for Three. In my career I have managed to win international medals and many domestic medals also. I am currently ranked 4th in Britain and 101st in the world rankings. As you may or may not be aware, UK Sport had decided to withdraw funding for five Olympic sports and fencing was included, which meant payment for competition entry, flights, accommodation and equipment would have to be self funded from now on. Knowing I have the potential and having been told I have the potential to reach my aim and qualify for the Olympic games keeps me motivated to work extremely hard and make my country proud by bringing home a medal from Tokyo. Growing up my inspiration was my current coach Ian Williams, former Olympic athlete. To see the passion he has as a coach really does help me push on even when times are hard he never gives up on me. Not only is he my coach but I definitely see him as family too. I grew up in Walthamstow for a couple of years before moving to Holloway, Islington. There wasn't many opportunities around me at these times but my mother has always seen me as a good athlete and tried her best getting me into various sports such as swimming, tennis, football, but fencing was the one unique sport I wanted to stay with. I would really love to go to the Olympic Games for many reasons 1, Reaching a personal achievement making it to a prestigious event like the games. 2, Being able to make my country proud and bring home the gold medal from the games. And 3, Most importantly making my family proud after all the time and effort they have put into me. I feel like I am different to the other athletes in fencing based on a results and my abilities. Physically I can adapt to any sort of training and intensity, results wise I have won an international World Cup medal at a junior level and have also beaten former world champions, olympians and very close to beating the current back to back Olympic champion. Having calculated the costs for flights, accommodations and entry fees the annual cost would come to approximately £10,000. Thank you for reading my page and a big thank you to donators, your generosity is greatly appreciated.
