After taking an interest in running late in to my thirties, I've participated in various half marathons around Victoria. And now that the big 40's is creeping up fast, I've decided to take the plunge and participate in my very first full Marathon. So I've decided to participate in the spectacular 2020 Tokyo Marathon, which will take place on the 1st of March 2020.
I am registered as a Charity runner, pledging a minimum of JPY 100,000 for The Nippon Foundation Dream Scholarship (https://www.nippon-foundation.or.jp/en), a foundation who deliver scholarship funds to children in orphanage and foster-cared children. By doing this, I hope that my participation in this event to challenge my own body, mind and spirit will also be able to help some disadvantage children achieve their own full potential in life.
I would really appreciate if you could donate to my fundraising page, even if it’s just pocket change - even something small could radically change a child's life, providing them with the same opportunity to receive higher education as the rest of us.
I am not participating to be just a number, I also want to put in my best effort to show anyone that even as a late starter, we can still achieve our goals and dreams as long as we believe and work hard. My current goal is to finish under 3 hours and 30 minutes and depending on my training, the goal time might reduce.
If you'd like to follow my training progress, please follow me on my strava (https://www.strava.com/athletes/35121473).
