The 2020 Orientation Team at Coastal Carolina University goes through six months of intensive training to get the team ready to educate incoming students and their families about what it means to be a Chanticleer through an inclusive and positive environment. The Orientation Team gets the amazing opportunity to build relationships and mentor new students during their orientation and throughout their time at Coastal Carolina. One of the most exceptional experiences the Orientation Team gets is attending SROW (Southern Regional Orientation Workshop) in March at Western Kentucky University! By contributing to the Orientation Leadership Fund all donations will help provide the team with the funds to attend SROW which includes travel, lodging, food, and other miscellaneous materials. These contributions will ensure the optimal experience for incoming students, their family members, and the team. If you are interested in giving a donation that can be claimed as a tax deduction, feel free to donate to fund 91-6746 through the Coastal Educational Foundation at coastal.edu/cef/give. All donations are much appreciated regardless of the amount and the team thanks each individual that donates. The support for the 2020 Orientation Team will contribute to the successes and experiences for the Coastal Carolina community.
Our mission statement:
As 2020 Orientation Leaders, we strive to create a positive and enjoyable experience transitioning into college for new students and families. We will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the institution, its functions, and student life by promoting inclusiveness with all students. As we go through this journey, we encourage everyone to break barriers, create bonds, and start a legacy here at Coastal Carolina University.
Testimonies:
“My time as an Orientation Leader taught me so much about myself and helped me to find out what I was missing in life. And that was my family, not just the biological ones but the ones that I got to choose. I am so happy and thankful for this experience, and now I get to serve in a supervisor role and help mold the next generation of O-Leaders.” -Jarrett Zissett, 2019 Orientation Leader, and 2020 Orientation Assistant.
“I wanted to become an Orientation Team Member to show students how much Coastal Carolina University means to me and the opportunities it has given me in three years. I have so much to share with others about what it means and takes to be a Chanticleer. I want to be able to make a difference in someone's experience.” -Erica Armellino, 2020 Orientation Leader.
“The Orientation Team has been one of the biggest accomplishments since coming to Coastal and has given me the opportunity to grow as well as make new connections with people who I would have never seen myself with.” -Tim Mack, 2019 Orientation Leader, and Senior 2020 Orientation Team Leader.
“As a transfer and first-generation college student, trying to get involved in campus life was intimidating. After my orientation experience, I knew the Orientation Team was an organization I wanted to be part of because of their inclusiveness and positive attitudes. I am beyond grateful to be a member of the 2020 Orientation Team and even more to be a Chanticleer.” -Mikayla Eckler, 2020 Orientation Leader.
