2020 Eric Zaun Memorial Scholarship

Eric Zaun's legacy in beach volleyball continues on, in the form of the Eric Zaun Memorial Scholarship, although such a formal name for anything would bother that legendary road dog, so call it what you will. Label it the Road Dog Award, the Danny Fahrenheit It's Heating Up In Here Award, The Cookie Robinson Award. It doesn't matter.
What matters is that the beach volleyball community continues to raise money in the name of Zaun, money that will then be distributed to two deserving candidates -- one male, one female -- who have demonstrated a work ethic, wit, and an ability to go far with little, similar to Zaun.
The funds raised will be split evenly between the two, with the idea to be able to fund their travel to AVPs, FIVBs, NORCECAs, Pottstown, Waupaca -- any volleyball trip where stories and memories can be made.

To apply for the scholarship, candidates should answer one of three questions in no more than 400 words. Answers should be sent to: [email redacted]

- Times may be tough but we want to hear how you’re an innovator in keeping morale high.

- Eric Zaun was well known to put in double and triple days and work harder than any other beach volleyball players on the sand.  He also did it on a lower budget and with less means than just about all other players. How do you work harder than your peers on a lower budget?

- Tell us about the life you're living. What fulfills you? What are you doing that makes your way of living unique? What's your next adventure?
