Bartsview Circle House Fire

Group of friends, neighbors, families and a community aiming to make a difference.  A fire can leave us feeling powerless and vulnerable, especially when everything you've spent your lives building, disappears in a blink of an eye.  Until this family gets on their feet and receives a payment from their insurance company, we'd like to ensure they have everything they need especially with the soon arrival of their 2nd child. On Sunday, August 23 2020, firefighters battled a blaze that was caused by lightning on a house on Bartsview. The owners of the house (a man, his wife who is 32 weeks pregnant, and their 15mth old child) were lucky enough to escape the house before the roof erupted in flames and began to collapse. In a tight knit community, like Stouffville, we often feel that when something happens to one family, it is as if it has happened to all of our families. As neighbors were awakened that night and told to evacuate their own homes, the feeling that this could’ve been any one of our houses hovered over us and lingered. We have started this GoFundMe page to provide a platform for families, neighbors, small businesses and the Town of Stouffville, to reach out through donations so we can help this growing family get back on their feet. Fire marshals tried to salvage some of their family photos and items for the child, however, the majority of their belongings have been destroyed. The insurance companies will most likely cover the cost of the damage but we are all aware that that is an extensive process on its own. While we know that in tragedies such as this, there are some things that can not be replaced, we believe that any donation can help to establish a sense of community for this family. Our main goal is to ensure that they don’t feel displaced during this time and that they are reminded that they are surrounded by a community that supports them. After all, if we have learned anything in the last few months, it’s the importance of community and this lesson doesn’t fall short here.
