2019 World Scout Jamboree Fundraiser - Sam Shiels!

The 24th World Scout Jamboree will be held in West Virginia, USA, and will be an adventure beyond anything you can imagine. It`s tag line is “Beyond Borders, Beyond Limits, Beyond Expectations”. It is to be hosted jointly between Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico.
The Jamboree will take place on 22nd July – 2nd August 2019 at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, USA.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime which will enable me to travel to another part of the globe, meet different people from all over the world, discover different cultures, make new friendships, all whilst having the adventure of my life with 50 000 other scouts from 160 different countries.
This will help me to gain new skills, personal development and leadership. Hopefully I can take these new traits and use them to filter back into 1st Osterley Scouts to ensure this positive experience will benefit younger members of 1st Osterley scout group who have not been fortunate enough to have participated this time around.
I have been a member of the Scout organisation since starting Beavers as a six year old, and am now reaching the end of my time as a Scout. I will definitely be joining the Explorers section as soon as I can to continue the wonderful experience that “Scouting” affords.
In order to partake in this amazing Jamboree I need to raise £4000.00. As well as doing small odd jobs, bag packing, cleaning golf shoes at local golf club, selling Jamboree badges, I have decided to take part in the Kempton Park 10km Inflatable Obstacle Run. This is being held at Kempton Park Race Course on the 6th April and entails not 5kms but 10kms of running and climbing through obstacles like “Temple of Doom” “Storm the Walls” “The Gauntlet” “The Plummet” amongst many more. (I have roped in my Dad to run with me so spare a thought for him as well.)

Please help me to raise as much funds as possible to go some way to assisting in covering some of the costs associated with taking part in this wonderful Jamboree experience that I am sure I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life.
