2019 VEX Worlds Championship 99567X

Help support Team 99567X as they represent North Andover, MA and the Southern New England Region at the VEX World Robotic Championships in Louisville, KY (April 24-27)!
Comprised of four aspiring female engineers, Team 99567X has worked hard since September to design and build a robot to compete in this year's REC challenge, Turning Point. At the culmination of the season, the top teams from around the region compete for one of five spots to represent the Southern New England Region (MA, CT and RI) at the middle school level at the VEX World Championships in KY. We are so excited to be able to send our first ALL GIRL team from North Andover as one of the chosen few. These girls have put in many hours outside of school honing their robot building skills, including but not limited to:
- Task prioritization and time management
- Documenting and presenting an iterative engineering process
- Technical diagramming and CAD
- C++ programming
In addition to these hard skills, the girls have learned important soft skills such as
- Resillence
- Teamwork
- Sportsmanship
- Benevolence
Competing at Worlds does not come without cost unfortunately. Between registration fees, necessary robot upgrades, booth supplies and transporting both human and non-human cargo, the costs are significant. We are reaching out for assistance to help make this dream a reality.
One last thought...the National Science Foundation recently noted that the participation of women in the fields of computer science and engineering remains well below 30%. Regardless of whether you donate to our fundraiser, I hope you can join with us in finding a way to right this wrong. Three of the young ladies on this team took home the top three spots in their school's Math Olympiad this year. The potential is absolutely there for them to do something great in these fields, but statistics show that they need our support and encouragement along the way. #GirlPowered
