Hi, my name is Alexandra Auguste and for the first time in school history I was selected to be on the 2019 Massachusetts Nationals Gymnastics Team. I will be traveling to Fort Myers, Florida for the competition on May 16 -29, 2019. Myself and 19 senior gymnasts from all over Massachusetts were hand selected to represent our state at National. The cost per athlete to attend Nationals is a little under $900 which will cover the uniform, transportation (not including plane tickets), apparel, backpack, food, and hotel (which ONLY coaches and gymnasts stay at). But not the $135 meet fee and 3 airplanes tickets for my family and I (my mom and sister) to travel down with me and support me during my competition.
Throughout my 4 years of high school I was able to compete on the first ever Haverhill High School gymnastics team back in 2015 and as the saying goes time flies and this spring I'll be the first and only four year gymnastics team member to graduate. I was also the first from my school to become an individual state champion on beam. This year I was awarded Merrimack Valley Conference senior gymnast of the year and 2x Eagle Tribune all-star.
I ended my last season of high school gymnastics with a bang! Senior year was by far the best season. The team was undefeated the whole season, became MVC champions, Small School MVC champions, and last but not least qualify to sectionals for the first time ever and place in the 15th out of 24 schools! I'm so extremely proud of my team and honored to have been captain for the last 3 seasons.
I could not have achieved all of this by myself! Without the support of my family, friends, high school coach Mel Tarbox, and club coach Barbara Getchell from Legends Gymnastics. Along with my former superintendent James Scully who helped start the Haverhill High School gymnastics team with the help of parents.
