I am a competitive swimmer that is a member of UBC Thunderbirds team. In my swimming career, I have been lucky enough to have also competed for Canada for 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships and the 2018 Fina (Short Course) World Championships. This year I have earned the opportunity to represent Canada at the University International level in Naples, Italy at a competition called the 2019 FISU Summer Universiade which is a Multisport Games event that has brought together thousands of athletes from over 150 countries for over 25 different sports. Unfortunately, this year all the expenses for this trip, including the $2850 participation fee, and all flight and travel costs must be paid for by each individual athlete themselves. This will total to around $5000 for each of us. As a university athlete, I put over 25 hours per week into training and am very dedicated and passionate about my sport and would love the chance to represent both my university and country on the world stage this summer. What some may not know about me is that I am the 5th out of 6 children and have thus far had to pay my own way through university and this has taught me to be very financially conscious. However, this meet is a little out of my price range. Because of this, I wish to ask for support with some of this steep expense and have started this Go Fund Me in the hopes of offsetting some of the costs. Any donation or sharing of my campaign would help tremendously and I am very thankful for everyone's support in my swimming dreams.
