The Matzevah Foundation (TMF) is a U.S. based non profit that cares for Jewish cemeteries in Poland. Since 2010, we have helped to restore cemeteries all around Poland through partnerships with Polish and Jewish organizations and volunteers from around the world. We have also participated in several commemoration ceremonies for mass graves.

There are around 1,200 Jewish cemeteries in Poland that receive little or no care. When we work in a cemetery, we are able to restore and honor the memories of those who are buried there. We're also bringing to light the once vibrant Jewish culture that was found in that town and throughout Poland before the Holocaust.

2018 promises to be a big year in our organization. We are currently planning eight projects that will take us to all corners of Poland. We are seeking to raise funds for this year's work. All donations will go towards various needs of our projects which include:


1. Tools: We own a variety of equipment that we use in each cemetery restoration project. These tools take a beating each year as we clean and clear heavy brush, chop down trees, and remove tall grass. They are routinely in the repair shop and we must replace items each year. Your financial gift will go to help keep our current inventory of tools in great repair as well as to purchase new tools as we have need.


2.Transportation: TMF’s president travels to Poland several times a year to meet with our partners, to visit the towns we’ll be working in, and to scout out future projects. Our volunteer groups also rely on transportation to and from projects. Your financial gift will help to offset these expenses which are typically the largest of each project. 

We are also looking to purchase a truck or van in Poland that would be used for our work.  Owning our own vehicle will help TMF be a better steward of our financial resources by not having to rent all of our vehicles for each project.  


3. Partnership Projects:  TMF is committed to building a fence around  two cemeteries in Poland.  This will help to protect and preserve these beautiful areas.  

We are also going to be partnering with Rohatyn Jewish Heritage in August.  We will be helping our friends to clean and clear two cemeteries in a small corner of Ukraine.  Your financial gift will help us purchase additional tools that are needed for this special project.
