To All our Friends and Family,
We are looking for your help so that our two young players (Melissa Roque and Lyem Fedoretz) can compete at this year 2018 Junior Pam Am Championships in Salvador De Bahia, Brazil from July 22 - 26, 2018. Given that this year, Pan Am Junior Championships will be in Brazil combined with the high entry fees, it is very costly to compete. So we are asking for your kind generosity so that these two young athletes can attend their first ever Junior Pan Am! The approximate cost to each player to compete at this event is around $8000 each. These costs include: entry fees ($750), plane tickets, hotel accommodations, transportation and food. However much you can donate, they will be grateful!
Both Lyem and Melissa are very dedicated, hard working, and committed athletes who have both tripple crowned at this years 2018 Alberta Junior Provincials in the U13 category. In addition, both these players went on to play at the Junior Nationals held in Hamilton Ontario. Even though they played up an age category, both Lyem and Melissa were able to compete with the best players in the country. They managed to get into the U15 consolation mixed semi finals. Unfortunately they lost this event to a very strong Ontario players; however, Lyem along with his boys double's partner Terrance Liu, was able to capture the U15 Boys doubles consolation tittle. In addition, Lyem also received the Sportsmanship award. They played well fought hard and gained much respect for their efforts and determination from both players, and coaches alike. Prior to these two events, Lyem Fedoretz and Melissa Roque, came first nationally for U13 boys doubles with Ryan Liu from BC, U13 girls doubles with Simone Hung from Quebec and U13 mixed doubles. They also qualified to play singles at the Junior Pan Am Championships! Tryouts were held this year in Burlington Ontario in March 2018. Both Eastern and Weastern U11 and U13 athletes competed for the very first time against each other nationally! It was both a momentous and memorable event since it became very clear that these two young athletes were amongst the very best in the country. This tournament, Junior Development Tryouts earned them a spot on the Canadian Junior National Team. It would be a great honour for these two athletes to be able to represent not only Canada and their beloved home club - B-Active but also to be able compete with the very best in the world!
