Six years ago tomorrow, November 1, 2010, I lost my only child, my beloved son Trace. And his girlfriend Rachel, and their ‘baby’, dog Marley. He is now 28, Rachel 27, and Marley almost 6, in Heaven.
Just the ages when Millennials are graduating from college, getting married, having babies, buying first homes, celebrating 10 year high school class reunions, etc.... Klein Collins High School (KCHS) class of 2006, where Trace graduated, had their reunion this summer. Rachel graduated from another high school, but was Trace’s date for the KCHS prom in 2006.
All these wonderful occasions after November 1, 2010, neither he nor I will ever have the joy of experiencing. I don’t know why God called these two to Heaven so early, or why He left me behind. I only know it helps to try and keep Trace and Rachel’s memories relevant to those who knew them that are busy moving on with their lives; as they should.
So that is why I do this fund raiser for the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo (HLSR): to honor Trace’s memory, Rachel’s too. I buy a 2 page ad for the Souvenir Program (third year now) and welcome any comments to print/publish to recognize and remember them. And feel free to send me any pictures you may want to share. Again, it is not so much about raising money, but to display pictures and comments. Below is a link to make a donation (if you want). The funds go directly to the HLSR. However, what is most important to me is to speak their names, write a comment; sign your name for all to see. I love you all for loving my son; and the kindness you have shown me and the nice comments over the years. I’m surviving the worse loss of all kind, losing a child, will never get over it, be the same. Still hoping God reveals his purpose for me as I always thought it was to raise my son, be a mom…
Also, Trace and Rachel are laid to rest at Christ Church United Methodist, The Garden of Grace Columbarium in The Woodlands, Texas. I too will be there someday, next to Trace.
