Having a mother who was born and raised in Ireland until the age of 18 allows me dual citizenship which has given me an opportunity to pursue my Olympic dream with Team Ireland. Late last night, that dream came one step closer as I received an email from the Irish Snow Sports Organization that I had been selected (1 of 2 female racers) from a large pool of candidates to compete next month representing Ireland at the 2017 World Alpine Ski Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Results from this race will be the primary selection indicator for the Irish Olympic Team for South Korea in 2018. Unfortunately, much like the Jamaican Bobsled Team experienced, skiing is not one of Ireland’s most popular sports, and thus, this race is not one of their most funded activities. Therefore, I am reaching out to you today for support. The funds from this campaign will be used to cover the short fall for travel, lodging and living expenses for 3 weeks in St. Moritz, as well as some very pricey gear to compete with the best in the world. Estimated cost will be $15,000. As you can see by the dates of the competition, this is all happening very quickly and I need to raise funds immediately to make this Olympic Irish-American dream come true. I will be updating my Facebook daily while in Switzerland so you can follow my journey.
Thank you all for your consideration and please share this with your friends and family!!!
