So....I had not intended to make this announcement for another four months...but,by the end of this year, I will expire....I will succumb to my kidney failure.
My end, is a matter of "quality of life", was thought-out extensively long and one of my most difficult decisions I have ever had to make (if anyone has questions, I welcome your inquires).
As many of you know, I have spent the bulk of my life, personal and professional, sustaining life and helping others, usually, in their most trying and desperate hours. Most know, Stephanie and I have opened our house to those, in need, and used our resources to aid others, when possible. So, you may understand, it is with great difficulty, we ask others for assistance, to fulfill my need to travel, to visit my family and friends one final time.
Stephanie and I will be traveling to Ohio and Portland, to visit my mother and father; as well as other family members and long-time friends. The shear number of individuals I need to see, and the limited time I have remaining, precludes those individuals from traveling to me.
Stephanie and I will be traveling by car, and staying with family, as often as possible (my health and wheelchair limits my access to many homes), to reduce costs. However, travel, lodging, meals and sundries, will take a huge bite out of our already strained budget, which is dominated by medical expenses, above-and-beyond normal living expenses.
The goal set is an estimate and may be revised; if we should be left with any donated funds, after we have completed our journey to visit my family and friends, said funds will be donated to a charity, to be determined at a later date (Donate Life is one of our favorite's).
We appreciate any assistance you may wish to offer, no donation is "too little"...and please know, your kindness will never be forgotten.
