2016 Diversity Prom
Boise Pride Festivals goal is to give the valleys LGBT youth and their allies the opportunity to express themselves, dance, socialize and have fun without persistant fear or the feeling of hostility and intolerance. The Diversity Prom is a safe event for all attendees, and is open to all youth ages 15 – 20, regardless of one’s sexual orientation, gender expression/identity, or romantic attractiveness.
The original venue that was to be used this year was a donated space, however due to some unfortunate circumstances, that venue is no longer available. The short notice and change of venues, has created and additional expense that we had not planned for in the budget. We are very grateful to find a venue that is available for the event, however we are needing to raise the additional funds in a short amount of time.
Your donations today will ensure that like many others, these young adults will get to experience the real feeling of acceptance, memories, and excitement of attending a prom. For many of the youth this will be their first Prom experience, and for so many the only dance they may attend for the entire year.
This experience is something that cannot be put on without the generous support of our community, sponsors, and adult allies. Your support for the LGBT Youth, shows a strong commitment to strengthening of tomorrow’s leaders in the LGBT Community. Last year’s event was attended by 160 of the valleys gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allies. It has been one of the most talked about events of last year’s Pride Week, and we expect a larger turn out this year.
So we ask you for your donations, and thank you for your continued support and investment in Idaho’s GLBT Youth. Every dollar raised is invested in the event; and remember that no donation is too small, and of course never too big.
