NAU D2 Ice Jacks Hockey Nationals

The Northern Arizona University Division 2 Ice Jacks Hockey team achieved their goal of qualifying for the 2015 ACHA D2 National Tournament in Salt Lake City, UT.  Only the top 16 teams in the nation earn a spot at the National Tournament.  Since the team is a club sport, they receive little to no funding from the university. The team’s regular season budget of $150,000 is funded by player dues ($3,000 per player), sponsorships, and booster donations. The team must raise an addition $15,000 to attend their third National Tournament in the last four seasons.

 

This season the Division 2 Ice Jacks finished 27-7-1-2 and were ranked #2 in the ACHA D2 Western Region, which qualified them as the top seed at the ACHA D2 Western Regional Tournament in Tempe, AZ. The team went on to beat Loyola Marymount University (4-0) and the University of Denver (7-5) at the Regional Tournament, which punched their ticket to the National Tournament on March 20-24, 2015.  The next challenge is to bring a National Championship back to Northern Arizona University and the city of Flagstaff.
