At least 55,700 people have been killed in Gaza since October 2023, including more than 15,000 children, and more than 129,800 people have been injured.
In total, more than 1.9 million people (90% of the population) have been displaced, and the entire population of Gaza is facing famine due to Israel's continued blockade of humanitarian aid.
This is a genocide that has unfurled in front of our own eyes.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) provides a wide range of humanitarian services that encompass primary and vocational eduction, primary health care, relief and social services, infrastructure and camp improvement, microfinance and emergency response.
In short, they are a fantastic charity that is not only working to address the realities faced in Palestine right now, but they are also working to establish a future for the country and the Palestinian people.
I'm planning to walk 200km (the equivalent of Limerick to Dublin) over the coming weeks in order to raise money for UNRWA. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm re-learning to walk again after rupturing my achilles earlier this year and have only recently come out of a cast and protective boot.
Walking is still incredibly difficult and painful for me, but I want to use my rehab as an opportunity to help people facing true pain and suffering every day. And I need your help.
All the money donated will be given to UNRWA in its entirity and I'll cover the transfer costs required by GoFundMe. I'll post evidence of payment once I reach the 100km goal, which will be paid through UNRWA's donation site, and any donations after this goal will of course be paid to UNRWA too.
