$2000 goal for Brinkmann medical trip
Donation protected
Please support the Brinkmann family with a donation for their 11 day medical trip in February to Nationwide Children's Hospital for ongoing specialty care for Marcus!
-approximately $1500 for flights
-approximately $500 for associated costs
-Any money given above the goal will be used for ongoing medical costs like OTC medicine and supplies, Rx co pays, parking for clinic visits, etcetera.
Back story: When Marcus was born and diagnosed with multiple birth defects in 2015, the Brinkmanns were given the impression that he would need about 1 or 2 years of extensive medical care and then he would be all "fixed" up. While the majority of his surgeries were in the first 2 years, the ongoing follow up and unexpected complications and additional diagnoses have been a lot more extensive than originally anticipated, stretching the finances further and further.
The Brinkmanns have spent an incredible amount of time going to appointments, sorting through medical bills, and taking care of the daily medical needs of their son. It truly takes a village to care for children, especially those with special medical needs. Let’s come around the Brinkmanns at this time to help and encourage them as they press on in their journey as a family to care for the ongoing needs of their son!
Here are some financial stats for the Brinkmann family from the last 5 years:
-$30,000 spent to meet our maximum deductible each year
-about $500-800 spent on hospital and clinic parking
-hundreds of dollars spent on OTC medication prescribed by doctors but not covered by insurance
-hundreds of dollars spent on co pays for prescriptions that do not count toward the maximum deductible
Here are some medical stats for the last 5 years:
-10 times under anesthesia
-7 surgeries
-over 100 days in the hospital
-over 250 clinic and therapy appointments
-100s of awesome nurses, doctors, and other caregivers
-1 happy and active boy, with some issues he will deal with lifelong
Any amount you can give will be a source of great encouragement and relief to the Brinkmann family!
