200 miles in June for Mia June - Incubator fundraiser

As some of you will know, my best friend and her husband welcomed the beautiful Mia June into the world on the 2nd May 2023; she made a surprise early entry into the world at just 24 weeks +1 day. She was oh so tiny, oh so beautiful and ohhh so full of character. Mia was cared for by the incredible staff at the NICU at James Cook University Hosptial, each one of them are amazing people who care for, not only these tiny babies every single day, but also support the families through their time in the NICU.

Unfortunately, Mia passed away on the 29th August 2023. Without the team at NICU and the equipment they have, many babies wouldn't be able to have the care and help that they vitally need. The NNU in James Cook have around 400 admissions each year so this can be a very busy unit.

Mia's parents, Amy & Alex, are raising money to buy an incubator in Mia's memory to donate to the NICU to help more babies who either enter this world early or need vital care. So, I have decided, that since this year would have been Mia's 2nd birthday on the 2nd of May, to set myself the challenge of walking and hiking 200 miles throughout the month of June. (there may be a possible jog & run amongst it too) I will be sharing each journey along with the distance each time I've completed some.

My initial target is £2000, which is just a drop in the ocean to put towards the cost of the incubator but, it is another step closer to being able to give back to the amazing team at James Cook. Any donations we are incredibly grateful for and truly appreciate the support.
