20 Container Cabin Homes for Earthquake Survivors
We are Mahir Derman and Gokmen Kilincarslan, founders of Provolt Energy. We ask for your help to support renewable energy workers who lost their homes in the earthquakes in Turkey and urgently needing shelter.
Your support directly goes to constructing 20 container cabin homes to provide shelter to 146 GTC Photovoltaic Solar Systems employees and their families. GTC Photovoltaic Solar has been manufacturing solar PV panels in Adiyaman, Turkey for the renewable energy industry for the past decade.
The container cabins (pictured above) will be delivered to and installed at the GTC’s Solar PV manufacturing factory lot. For the next 2 years, these container cabins will house the 146 GTC workers and their families who lost their homes. These container cabins will include 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower.
Last Monday, February 6th, Turkey was struck by two deadly earthquakes of magnitudes 7.5 and 7.8, the most catastrophic disaster to hit Turkey in decades, leaving more than 22,000 people dead and many more injured, reducing thousands of buildings to the ground, and wiping out entire cities we once called home. Country-wide search and rescue efforts are currently in place to save tens of thousands of victims under the wreckages and provide food and shelter to those who lost their homes.
We are grateful to all those who send their thoughts and prayers.
