New Music!

Hello! I am a retropop musician, engineer, producer and songwriter! I have been playing by ear since I was 3 and also started formal lessons then consecutively into university. I then recorded my debut EP in conjunction with my masters thesis on analog and digital recording hybrids.

I always used to feel funny about GoFundMe since the emphasis growing up was always on giving, which I think can be a beautiful thing. But I've been learning that it's ok to ask for help sometimes, too. And things have been rather tough lately. With mass layoffs in my field, I've been largely running on savings for the past couple of years.

While on the job hunt, I'd love to keep working on my next musical releases, but it’s hard to proceed when realistically I need to be saving for rent and food right now. I pride myself on being able to put out music in an affordable way, being both an engineer and producer and not needing to outsource to another studio (except for mastering) but would still need to have steady income to really proceed to the next stages of working with my session and featured musicians and doing a proper marketing campaign. I put $1500 as my goal but any amount really helps.

I have been composing since I was around 8 years old and have accumulated hundreds of original songs. Not growing up with the technology we have today, actually being able to produce and release them professionally in your home felt like a far-off dream. But with today’s technology plus my background in audio production, it is my big goal in life to release the songs I wrote then - and am still writing now.

Here are the releases I am working on:

1. An EP of sunshine-y choir-like songs with influences ranging from world music to surf rock. It features me on vocals and even has a special lyric video I filmed myself of scenery where I grew up. The only expenses I have for this one is to wrap up session work and mastering.

2. My third album! This includes songs from years ago and has an indie ballad type of feel. It includes an experimental synth interlude in the middle and songs about the environment and society as well as my usual rainy-songwriter love ballads. I will be using the funds raised here largely for this one to contribute towards paying session and feature musicians, mastering and a proper marketing campaign.

Music is my lighthouse and my purpose and it keeps me going. It would mean a lot to me if you chose to help me keep working on these during this tough time.
