As some of you may know, I have been pursuing my passion for playwriting at Colorado College, and in London this semester as a theater major. I have been lucky to have access to some incredible resources in college, including world renowned professors and talented student actors, but much of the inspiration for my work has come from my experiences growing up in South Carolina. While my newest play, 2 AM Strangers is being optioned for professional production in bigger cities, I feel like the message would be most meaningful to the people of South Carolina whose experiences the play is based on.
The people of Florence have proven their dedication to the arts time and time again by supporting organizations like the Performing Arts Center and Florence Little Theatre, and I would be so appreciative of that support in producing my play, 2AM Strangers. It deals with themes of family, uncertainty, mental health, and finding common ground in unexpected places with unexpected people. All donations will go towards subsidizing the renting of the space, production costs associated with props and building the set, and fairly compensating the actors and director. It is my dream to see this play go up in the black-box theater at the FMU Performing Arts Center in January and I would be so grateful for any funds you may be able to offer to help bring my dream to life.
