My grandfather has unfortunately come down with Covid-19. He is 80 years old but don't let that fool you... before the virus, he still drove on his own and walked around town and visited family often. He was very independent and spunky! He has a deep love for the bible and his family. He lives a simple life.
Early this week, my grandpa was admitted to the hospital. Feeling alone, he really wanted to come home. He did not want to be at the hospital. It was hard being away from family... The nurses worked with my family so that he could come home and he was put on oxygen.
My mom, Irma Dodd and uncle, John Dodd, are taking care of him. He is still very weak. He has a hard time keeping his eyes open and talking. You can tell he is focusing on trying to breathe. He tried getting up and fell. It was difficult for my uncle and mom to help him. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions. Sometimes he's okay and sometimes not so much...
The room he is being cared for in is the same room his spouse was being taken care when she was sick for years. As Emilio's children, it is hurting my mom and uncle to see their Dad sick in the same room...
On top of this, both my mother and uncle have medical conditions which put them at high-risk for the virus and we fear that while they are trying to take care of him, they may contract it as well and not be able to take care of him since virus often causes people to be bed-ridden.
It has been emotionally distressing for all of the family because of having to quarantine and social distance. Not being able to be together and hug each other during the times we most want to has been a heartbreaking reality of this virus.
This fund is to help my grandpa and his children with all the expenses incurred due to the virus and to help with the ones to come as they are coming headfirst one after another.
Any little bit helps and if you have any words of encouragement, please feel free to leave a message so they can be shown to the family.
