Thank you for visiting! Unfortunately, I suddenly find myself in the middle of a health crisis.
In mid-March I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain and was rushed into surgery. A cancer tumor had perforated through the colon tissue, causing a severe infection. Emergency surgery was performed and I received a colostomy. During the following 10 days in the hospital, further testing revealed that the cancer had metastasized to my liver.
There is no predetermined figure for what my treatment will cost; hospital bills are trickling in slowly. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to keep my job and health insurance throughout the COVID-19 crisis. However, I am paying out of pocket for a handful of additional supportive therapies.
Stage IV cancer is difficult to face, but I'm staying positive and doing all I can to heal for both myself and my daughter's sake. I am grateful for all of the support I am receiving in all forms and am blessed to know so many caring people.
