On April 17, 2020 our mother had to have emergency surgery to have her right leg amputated above her knee. She has had a long battle with lung cancer that has metastasized and currently has also been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Due to the ongoing disease, it was discovered that she had blood clots in her leg. She had 3 emergency surgeries to remove the life threatening clots, but sadly would re-clot before leaving the recovery room. She had to come to a decision within mere moments, alone as we can’t be by her side, to amputate to survive or not. As gut wrenching this is for our family, and Marsha, we have decided a rehab is not the best place for someone with such advanced cancer due to the recent pandemic. We would like to get her home with a home health aid to lower her risk of contracting Covid-19. On top of her new obstacles, we still need to maintain her treatment in Syracuse, weekly, for her cancer. We need to get her reliable transportation for the hour long (one way) trips to Syracuse and keep her home as much as possible, with care, to keep her healthy.
Thank you for your support during this difficult time for our family.
Forever love from her children,
Amanda, Jason, Sara, Anthony & Mathew
