Karon Hoffman, a wonderful wife, mother of three, grandmother of 8, has had her life devastated by COVID-19. Using her great strength and courage, she returned to school late in life and earned a nursing degree. She had no choice but to work during years that she should have been enjoying retirement in order to be able to afford expensive diabetes medications for herself, and her husband, Dave, a nearly 92 year old veteran. Karon has always put others wellbeing ahead of her own.
Even when COVID-19 made being a healthcare worker a scary profession she continued to go to work at a local nursing home. She fell ill with a fever and her oxygen saturation dropped into the 60s. Karon has a history of COPD so we weren't sure what to make of it but our concern morphed into terror when she tested positive for COVID-19. Within days of being hospitalized, her condition deteriorated and she is now on a ventilator fighting for her life. Her husband has tested positive for the virus as well, though he is no longer in the hospital and is isolating alone at home. Please consider donating something to help support Karon and Dave during this time. She has a very long road ahead of her. I realize that many people face uncertain financial circumstances at this time and truly appreciate your support, even if it is only a few dollars-every dollar is needed.
