Help for Duncan O’Brien

Donation protected
Duncan is a single father to his son Atticus, age 11 months. Atticus’s mother and Duncan’s girlfriend, Bethany Bohlke, tragically and suddenly passed away this past June from an aortic aneurysm. She was the love of Duncan’s life and he was devastated but he still proved to be the most loving father to baby Atticus. He found out April 8th that he has a very serious cancer. He lives in rural Alaska and with the current pandemic situation things are very tough right now. Duncan has had a lot of loss, including his own father who passed at a young age. He has persevered and with grace and love, Atticus has grown big and strong. He is so loved by so many. Any help you can offer Duncan and Atticus as he navigates this difficult time is so appreciated. The following is from his mother Kim: “So many things going threw my mind, with anger and frustration taking hold, but for this - I (we) will be stronger and we will find the strength to look past the frustrations. I am happy to have the loving support and most importantly the guidance from so many friends and family. It warms my heart to have so many thoughts and prayer calls, and texts to check on my family ❤ Yesterday I got the call from my son Duncan, again, not the call a mother wants to get. He said he was not feeling well and called me from the clinic in Gustavus to let me know they are preparing a medevac to get him to Juneau. He was seen at Bartlett Regional Hospital for pain in his lower back, and my greatest fear came over me when my son told me he has cancer. News of this hit my family hard, I was not ready. I am ever so grateful for the support of my awesome family. Thank you to my sisters for helping as much as you can, without you I would be lost. Thank you Albert, for everything you do to help our family in times of crisis, you are amazing! I will be traveling with him to his treatments in Anchorage, and from there we will know more on the length of his treatment. Please keep Duncan and his baby Atticus in your prayers, as they are very much needed, and very appreciated. My words of comfort and strength came in the most awesome text and I would like to share with you - "I can feel the prayers. I just take this as a small bump in the road. I'm not going to worry mom ❤️" ~ Our heartfelt thank you from Kim, Duncan, Trisha, Lizzie, Jeremiah, & Atticus ~ The O’Brien’s
