3D Printing for First Responders

Hello! My name is Brian Kinney and I’m currently 3D printing face shields, masks, and other things for healthcare professionals and first responders.

I assemble these units every night after work hours until just before midnight and constantly take prints off throughout the day.

I'm trying to give up my free time to assemble units that help these providers - it's the least I can do in hopes to help save lives and stopping the spread!

Right now we have a national shortage of basic PPE (personal protection equipment) and there is a nationwide initiative on building face shields and many other parts that hospitals, healthcare professionals and first responders need during this human Coronavirus pandemic.

I contacted St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, and their 3D department provided me with the plans I’m using to create the face shield brackets.

4/1/2020:

I have provided St. Mary’s so far with 15 shields - and Woodbury Police department with 10 shields, Danbury hospital’s OBGYN floor with 30 shields! I am currently working on making a HUGE batch to give out to local cashiers, PD as I find them, and ER Doctors in Hartford!

4/8/2020:

- 250 units sent out since last friday!
- Four new printers, 5 total, two more ordered yesterday
- 77 pounds - 35 reels of PETG filament is on it's way, each reel yields 32-33 units -- 1,155 unit goal!
- 1,600 5mil sheets of 8x5'' x 11'' lamination sheets
- 600 yards of 1/4'' elastic band spools -
- $2,665 raised of $5,000 goal

4/15/2020
- 550 units sent out in total!
- 7 total printers online!
- PETG Filament is still coming in, 9 reels of PETG used so far!
- $3,615 raised of $5,000 goal

With your financial help, this number could be MUCH higher!

Currently using four 3D printers; I’m currently able to print, assemble, and ship approximately 15 items per day.

All money raised will go toward:
• 6 More 3D printers (approximately $399.00 each) *
• 35+ 2Lb PETG 3D printing filament reels (used to print the face shield head harnesses)
• 1,500+ face shield sheets 1,500 Zip lock bags/packaging for distributing units
• 20 Cleaning supplies and more sterilization equipment items (soap, sanitizer, HEPA filters)

*All 3D printers that are funded will be donated to local schools once this is all over!

All printed units will be donated to healthcare professionals and first responders. I will keep this page updated with my daily production rate.

THANK YOU!
