Many families are experiencing financial hardship during this pandemic crisis. Employees that are temporarily suspended after business closures are advised to apply for unemployment, but the sad reality is that for many different reasons, not everybody is eligible.
A single mother of five, once homeless, Lily is an example of resilience. She has lived the unimaginable to provide for her children. She has slept in her car with her children while working a minimum wage job as a dishwasher and picking up cans to resale at the supermarket.
Lily is a loving mother who has always made her kids a priority and has no drug addictions. With no childcare support from her children’s father, she devotes every penny she earns to pay her bills and lives on a month to month budget.
This is heartbreaking for her, because she is not eligible to receive unemployment and will be left with no income for at least four weeks because of Oregon dictating that all restaurants must close. This family will run out of food without your support and will not be able to pay bills.
We acknowledge that a lot of people are in Lily's situation, so we are asking those of you who are in a position of being able to support the most vulnerable ones like Lily and her children.
Thank you for choosing to kindly donate towards Lily’s campaign, may you and your family stay healthy and strong during this difficult times.
