Help & Support For Mark Zeiher
Donation protected
Mid February, Mark Zeiher suffered a hemorrhaging stroke on the left side of his brain, affecting his speech and the right side of his body the most.
From his Caring Bridge site: “[Mark’s] healing journey and rehabilitation asks a lot of him and is hard work. The rehab team here tells us often that [he] had a really bad bleed with his stroke, worse than many.”
Mark was in the intensive care unit for 2 weeks. He is currently staying at a rehabilitative center in Rochester where he has an intense road of therapy ahead of him. It is hard to picture our friend Mark, who made a living working with his hands, needing to relearn skills we all take for granted. He is relearning to speak with the help of a speech language pathologist (ex: hi, bye, counting). Occupational therapists and physical therapists are helping him to regain strength to help him be able to sit up on his own, balance, put on his shoes, walk, and learn how to hold and swing a hammer again.
Mark’s wife has taken a leave of absence from work, and temporarily relocated to Rochester to be with him. In the future, their home will need to be updated to be handicap accessible.
While Mark works hard on his recovery, and his family work hard to encourage him on the long road ahead, consider helping support them financially with a donation to Mark’s Go Fund Me campaign. The money raised will be used at the family’s discretion to help cover medical expenses, missed time from work, extra costs associated with being in Rochester for his care, and the accommodations that will need to be made to their home in the future.
Mark would be the last to ask for this kind of help, but among the first to offer it. We should all help him out as we are able, while we are able. None of us ever expect to find ourselves in Mark’s position, but it happens. Let’s not take that for granted and raise some money to help Mark out. Any amount helps!
