Thank you for taking the time to view our campaign. As some may know, our family recently lost a husband and father of two recent college/high school graduates back in July. This has taken a toll not only on our emotional being, but also on our household income.
On top of this incident, our family has been struggling with other unforeseen expenses, including car damage & replacement, lapse of income, vet bills, and back rent (due to unemployment) and not qualifying for rental assistance. As a recent college graduate, I also have monthly loan payments to maintain, which takes away from the amount I can contribute to rent.
Currently, my mother and I both work as full-time temporary employees (my mother soon to be permanent) and are actively making weekly payments toward rent. Despite these efforts, we are struggling to pay off the current past due balance we owe on rent and are worried about the state of our housing on top off taking care of our dog and accruing vet bills. I currently rely on taking the commuter rail and MBTA to work, which also takes away from my weekly income.
We recently needed to replace my mother’s car to ensure that we can still make it to work. We were very fortunate enough to receive the help and support needed to quickly replace her car with a safer option. This, however is an expense that took away from rent.
It is not my expectation to be able to meet this goal, but every little bit helps. Just being able to catch up on late rent would help give us some peace of mind in this matter.
